I totally agree with you, the iPad is cool, but devices like the HP slate are way better for productive work.
From a business side, I’m interested in the iPad because if it takes off, there will be that many more people ready to purchase my app. However on a personal level, the iPad along with these android tablets would only serve as a toy for me. The HP slate, if it comes out at a good price and has good performance, will give me the freedom to run whatever I want. Like Checking and updating my Servers, browsing to a client’s websites (who may use flash). Flash games to keep the kids entertained.
